Importing a Map (Android)

Last Updated: May 15, 2017 02:12PM EDT

Custom map imports (non-map store) are limited to three maps at any given time unless you are an Unlimited Import or Pro subscriber.  These maps can be swapped out as often as you like. Map store maps are unlimited regardless of subscription type.

On the Map List screen, tap the Add icon ('+') followed by "Download or import a map" to import a map. You can import a map from any of the following sources:

  • Avenza Map Store
  • Device Storage
  • Dropbox
  • QR Code
  • Web
  • Custom URL Scheme

You can import these supported file formats: Geospatial PDF, GeoPDF, GeoTIFF, TIF, JPG, and the .avenzamaps (formerly .pdfmaps) file.  TIF must be packaged with a TFW & PRJ or WKT, while JPG must be packaged with JGW & PRJ or WKT.  Packaging entails compressing all your files into a single .zip file for import.
Note: Users of the free version of the app are limited to 3 custom (non-map store) maps at any given time.  Those that purchase either the Unlimited Import, or Pro subscriptions, are able to import an unlimited number of their own custom maps at any given time.

Custom URL Scheme

For example add the prefix to a map in the following format:
pdfmap:// OR avenzamaps://
