Avenza Maps Terminology

Attribute Schema: The attribute structure of map features.

Export: Export placemarks, tracks and lines as a specific format (e.g. KML, CSV, GPX) to a destination (e.g. Dropbox, email, etc).

Features: Placemarks, tracks and lines are all considered map features.

Import: Import placemarks, tracks, and lines from available sources.

Imported Map: Your own maps added from iTunes File Sharing, Android File System, SD card, Dropbox or the web. Map Store maps are not considered imported maps.

Layers: iOS only, layers store map features and can be attached to specific maps.

Lines: Lines on a map. Lines can be created using the Measure Tool or imported from another source (e.g. KML, SHP).

Map Bundle: Multiple maps bundled together for sale on the Map Store.

Map Collection: When a folder is designated as a Collection, all the maps stored in that folder can be navigated to within a map view.

Map Store: Browse, purchase, and download maps from the Avenza Map Store. You can have an unlimited number of Map Store maps on your device.

Map View: The are shown when viewing a map.

Placemarks: A marker indicating a place on a map. Placemarks can be dropped or imported from another source (e.g. KML).

Pick List: Part of the Attribute Schema, a list for data collection.

Pro Subscription: Enables subscribers to use the Avenza Maps app in any professional capacity, commercial enterprise, academic institution, non-profit organization, or government agency. It allows for unlimited map import as well as access to all app features.

Tracks: Lines that have GPS information are considered tracks. Use Record GPS Tracks to record your movement or activity. 

Type: Part of the Attribute Schema, the data type can be Boolean, String, Real or Integer.
